Situated in the leading agricultural production region

The East of England is one of the most fertile areas in the UK, reflected in the huge quantity of grade ‘A’ land available (particularly for arable farming). The region also benefits from well-integrated supply chains, clusters of downstream processing businesses and a significant scientific research base.

Agri-business includes agriculture, horticulture and the processing of food and drink products. Based on our advisory experience of working in this sector, we like to include machinery & production equipment, fuels, specialist consultancy services and wholesale of food and drink products.

Transaction trends

For the Agri-food sector, there has been a small increase in deal volume however a significant increase in deal value. In 2017, global deal value more than doubled from €9.8bn in 2016 to €24.1bn. For many part of the Agri-business value chain, it is often a challenging environment to run a business due to climatic events, tariff disputes, and price volatility. In recent years, innovation, technology and health-driven products have reignited the attractiveness of the Agri-food sector to investors.
