Sale of Quintic to CAD Schroer

PEM Corporate Finance advised on the sale of Cambridge based CAD Software Company.

The directors of Cambridge based Graphical User Interface software company, Quintic Limited, are pleased to announce the sale of the company to Dusseldorf based CAD Schroer.  Quintic has a long-standing relationship with CAD Schroer having been instrumental in developing its MEDUSA and STENO/PRO CAD SYSTEMS, and will now trade as a division of CAD Schroer UK Ltd.

Founded in 1995 by key members of computervision's research and development team, who had many years of experience designing and developing the MEDUSA CAD SYSTEM, Quintic conducts technical software development and consultancy.  The company formed a strong development partnership with MEDUSA'S then-owners Computervision and this relationship continued when Computervision and the MEDUSA product range were acquired by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) in 1998.  Quintic was instrumental in the development of the new 2D Drafting System for Pro/ENGINEER USERS: STHENO/PRO and in 2002, the MEDUSA and STHENO/PRO products were acquired by CAD Schroer, PTC's primary and most successful MEDUSA reseller in Europe.  Other Quintic clients include Lloyds of London, for whom is has developed shipping applications, and other global software houses, resellers, engineering and manufacturing companies.

Bill Wilkins, Director of Quintic said, "This is a good deal for both Quintic and CAD Schroer.  We have had a long and successful relationship and it's a perfect fit as both firms share the same dedication to technical excellence and close, long-term customer relationships.  Joining forces was a natural progression, and the existing directors being myself, Matt Jeudenfreund and Max Williams will stay on to take over management of CAD Schroer UK".  Lake Falconer, head of PEM Corporate Finance LLP based in Cambridge commented, "We were delighted to advise Bill and his colleagues on the sale of Quintic to their major customer.  This was carried out in such a way as to preserve the skilled team and their excellent relationships with other customers.  We were able to conclude the transaction swiftly due to the close co-operation between buyer and seller".
