Nehal prepares to pound the streets of London

On 26th April, PEMCF’s Nehal Patel will be lining up to take part in his second London Marathon in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.  This charity is particularly close to Nehal’s heart as, sadly, he lost his Uncle to the disease in November 2007.

Motor Neurone Diseases are a group of progressive neurological disorders that destroy motor neurones – the nerve cells that control voluntary muscle activity including speaking, breathing, swallowing and general movement of the body.  It is a life changing and cruel illness.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association is a resource for sufferers of MND as well as those caring for them and those treating it.  Money donated to the MND Association helps to provide essential services which are relied upon every day by people with MND.  It also goes towards funding research projects into the disease, which may one day result in a cure being found.

Nehal, pictured above in the 2007 Marathon, has been training hard over the last couple of months and often hobbles into the office in the morning after another punishing run around Southend!  He is hoping to beat his previous time of 4hrs 29mins – he did run an extra 2 miles due to transport problems!

If you would like to sponsor Nehal you can do so on-line at www.justgiving.com/deepeshandnehal, your support would be greatly appreciated.
