A family business based in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire, Barmans Ltd operates as an online provider of bar, cocktail and catering equipment to retail and trade through its website drinkstuff.com.

Established in 1977, the business quickly developed a strong niche with one of the first online retail websites, barmans.co.uk. In 1998 it launched drinkstuff.com in response to an increasing demand for its trade products from the retail sector.

What was special

We helped the owners pass on their legacy to their son and key members of the management team. This ensures the business will continue to thrive with the Bowskill family retaining a majority stake.

Deal structure

The owners retired but retained a small, minority stake in the business. The total consideration was settled by a mixture of cash and loan notes.
